Welcome to the first edition of PR@ctical, my little corner of the internet world to help you build your influence. When I think about my “digital legacy,” I want it to be one of support, inclusion and opportunity. What good is my skillset if I can’t help as many people as possible?
PR@ctical is a once-weekly newsletter with a SINGLE tip or resource to help you build your influence. It will encompass a PR philosophy through the evolution of the PESO model: paid, earned, shared and owned + transformative, organic, human and unplanned opportunities.
I will share my personal resources, contacts and media opportunities to help you!
FIRST UP 👉 “Master Guest Post List”
This is a resource I’ve been updating for several months (and continue to update). It is a compilation of places that accept guest writers and contributors that also can build your influence.
👀 You have to put in the effort if you want to be noticed.
When you’re looking for media opportunities, journalists may look for your digital footprint. They want to verify their sources and you should have both professional and social validation. This includes:
where have you been quoted;
what are your credentials; and
social amplification
The best place to start is by getting your voice seen, heard and amplified online. One way to do this is to create content in places that have a built-in community and high SEO ranking.
Here’s how to best use this list:
Review the Master Guest Post List (and archive/save it)
Identify one to two places you’d like to write each month
Schedule time on your calendar to write (have someone edit/review for you)
Submit your posts (edit, as needed)
Share once published
NOTE —> It may take a few tries to get in a writing groove and get your content accepted. DO NOT give up. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
COMING SOON! I’ll share my writing template resource to help create better habits around writing online content.
