Welcome to the third issue of PR@ctical. I’m really glad you’re here and hope that this helps you (even in some, small way) to build your reach and influence.
You know what would help me even more? Put me to work. Tell me the “one thing” YOU wish you had to help you get more: media coverage, influencer, speaking opportunities, etc… That way I can begin tailoring these issues to meet the specific needs of people, like you.
Twitter Lists.
They’re a powerful tool if you know how to use them.
My PR@ctical tried and true Twitter List tips for generating more media opportunities:
Check your pinned Twitter lists every morning (and put it on your calendar to build the habit). See what journalists are talking about. It will help you write better pitches & identify source opportunities.
I read a TON of news articles in every vertical. As soon as I discover relevant journalists, I do one of two things: add them to a Twitterlist; and/or add to mobile alerts.
Building your own Twitter list(s) offers you a very specific advantage, the ability to hyper target Twitter ads. This is important if you are trying to reach media, investors, event attendees, potential customers, etc....
