How to launch, morning media litmus test
Good morning PR@ctical readers. You know I like to get right to the point, so here we go.
The way we share news has changed, find the communities
Right now the election and COVID-19 continue to dominate the news. So, how do you find you or client’s place? If you fall under a digital lifestyle or tech category, here is my absolute 💯 best workflow for getting your *actual* (because that’s the 🔑 ) story out there:
Product Hunt + Your Stack —> launch strategically (by 12:00A PT), long-term SEO
Hacker News —> share by 8:00A ET (otherwise, wait), have a great title
Crunchbase 💰 —> increase your rank with their algorithm: # of connections, community engagement, funding events, news articles, acquisitions, etc…
Reddit Entrepreneur —> don’t just self-promote, engage
G2 —> 👀 build up credible reviews
Linkedin, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc… groups
Get your morning media litmus test (in 10 minutes or less)
Looking for a way to streamline just HOW you see what’s happening in the news? I like to segment my routine into three parts:
National/International Headlines (mostly mobile)
Specific writers and reporters Twitter Lists
Google Search + MuckRack
👉 ⏰ iOS Shortcut to pull up specific Twitter lists at 7:00AM
There are a few different ways you can set this up, so I’ll share one of mine with you:
Tap the Shortcut the day/night prior to schedule your “alarm” (that way it doesn’t bother you on weekends or days you are too busy)
Input the Twitter list(s) links you want to text yourself
Click send and all links show up in a single text that you can click on to view
