Hi all. Thanks for joining me again this week. I hope PR@ctical has been useful to you thus far. There is much, MUCH more to come in the next few months to help you build influence and find more media opportunities.
In the meantime, I tweet all urgent media opportunities I receive.
Do you have a personal mission statement? For past 13 years I used the same exact one. Things have changed, so I decided to give it a face lift (or life lift).
OLD ONE: I run unabashedly free through this one life, without fear. I expect the unexpected. I believe in abundance. I live.
NEW ONE: I have the privilege to live freely and work to ensure others may, too. I expect the unexpected. I believe in abundance. I create a safe space for learning and positivity to support the next generation of change makers. Family first, always.
Want to write your own? Here are three tools to help: this, this and this.

Workflows to stay in touch with media
Automate Follow Ups, Thank yous and Check ins {When You Can} To Reduce Missed Opportunities
TIP: Do you use Calendly’s automated scheduling software? It’s my personal scheduling tool of choice (not an ad!). They just released “Workflows,” and it’s an awesome opportunity to do a better job following up on leads or connecting with media.
EXAMPLES: Set up a Calendly Event specifically for interviews (e.g. “Interview with [insert your name]”).
Then, create Workflows to:
Follow up and thank a reporter within X hours (or days) after an interview;
Check in with a reporter(s) you’ve been doing outreach to and see if they are in need of sources; or even
Remind your self about an upcoming interview via text or email.
Consider any touch point you have with media, writers, new business and create a Workflow to reduce missed connection opportunities (without being overwhelming or annoying).
Thank you for continuing to follow along.
All my best,
Sarah
